- Valparaíso is about 120 km from Santiago by Ruta 68 through the Casablanca Valley: 1.5-2 hours each way by road.
- Turbus and Pullman buses leave Santiago's Terminal Alameda (and Terminal Pajaritos) about every 15-30 minutes;
  about 1h30-1h45; a one-way fare is a few thousand Chilean pesos.
- Typical 10-hour day trip: Casablanca winery, Viña del Mar (Flower Clock, Wulff Castle, Fonck Museum moai),

- A 'Valparaíso day trip' from Santiago usually gives Valparaíso itself only 2-3 hours; the rest is driving, Viña del Mar and a winery.
- Most tours do not go inside La Sebastiana; check for 'entrance' in the inclusions.
- Viña del Mar is a separate city from Valparaíso, not a district of it.
- Not every 'wine tasting' is at a vineyard: the budget whole-coast tour serves a small sample with olives in a shop.
