Every Valparaíso tour on this site scores between 4.5 and 5.0, so the stars barely help. What separates them is the time on the hills, what is included, the size of the group and whether the wine stop is a vineyard or a shop.
Below: our pick for each kind of traveller, every tour side by side, the Neruda question, the budget tours’ catches, and the walks for people already on the coast.
The quick answer

Which tour goes inside Pablo Neruda’s house?
Only Turistik, of the tours here. It includes entry and the audio guide at La Sebastiana. Chiletour and MTO only drive past.
La Sebastiana is the poet’s tall, narrow house on Cerro Bellavista, full of his collections and with a view over the whole bay. The Fundación Neruda opens it Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00 (to 19:00 in January and February), and it is closed on Mondays (official information). Book the Turistik tour on a Monday and the house will not be on the menu.
The trade-off is time. With a winery, the house, a walk and Viña del Mar, the day runs tight. A Turistik guest in April 2024 found "lots of traveling time on the bus" and would recommend it "if you just want to see three places very briefly". Another, in May 2024, called La Sebastiana "absolutely wonderful".

Want Neruda’s house with the entry ticket and audio guide sorted? Turistik includes both, plus a Casablanca winery and Viña del Mar.

Less time in Valparaíso, bigger groups and, on the MTO tour, a shop tasting rather than a vineyard.
Chiletour at $37 spends about 1 hour 45 of its listed stops in Valparaíso and about 3.5 hours in Viña del Mar and Reñaca. Most guests are happy with it; one in March 2025 reported that "They never picked me up". Keep your booking number and the operator’s WhatsApp handy.
MTO Tour Chile at $41 adds Reñaca and Concón, which makes it a twelve-hour day. Its "wine and food tasting" is Azapa olives and olive-oil cookies with a sample of wine in a shop. A guest in August 2026 called it "a super tiny amount of wine (like Italian espresso coffee)". If wine matters, pay a little more for a vineyard.

Prefer a proper vineyard at a budget price? Best Trip Chile adds a Casablanca vineyard tasting to the sea lions and the hills, from $65.

Progressive Tours from Santiago, or the Still Travelling and Patatour walks if you are already in Valparaíso.
The street art and wine day lists about five hours of Valparaíso stops: Caleta Portales, Cerro Bellavista, Cerro Alegre, Cerro Concepción and the pier. The walk is planned downhill only, and the group is eight at most. A guest in January 2026 still "would have preferred more time in the arts district", so ask the guide for gallery time if that is your thing.
On the coast, the street art and funiculars walk ($34) packs Pasaje Gálvez, Paseo Gervasoni and two funiculars into two hours. A guest in March 2026: "We were able to meet some of the artists themselves". More in the funiculars and street art guide.

Is a private Valparaíso tour worth it?
For two to four people who want their own pace, yes. Julio Private Tours costs $290 per person, with pickup anywhere in Santiago.
The private day is eight hours, six guests at most, with water, coffee, Wi-Fi on board and funicular tickets included. Stops are listed as the moai in Viña del Mar, Palacio Carrasco, Caleta Portales, Pasaje Gálvez, Paseo Yugoslavo and the El Peral lift, and the guide changes them on request. The listing sets the adult age band at 21 and up. Airport and Valparaíso cruise terminal pickups can be added.
A guest in February 2025: "The advantage of this private tour is that you can modify it to your needs!" Lunch and tips are extra, as on every tour.

Want the coast at your own pace, with stops you choose? Julio’s private day collects you from any Santiago address, six guests at most.

The Famous Valparaíso walk for a first afternoon, the Still Travelling walk for two quick hours, Valpo in One Day for a cruise call.
- Famous Valparaíso ($40, 3 hours): meets in front of the Navy monument on Plaza Sotomayor, rides the Reina Victoria and El Peral lifts and a trolleybus. A guest in March 2026 said that afterwards "we felt like pros at navigating the town".
- Street art and funiculars walk ($34, 2 hours): meets at Muelle Prat by the two cannons, ends at the Reina Victoria lift, alfajores included.
- Valpo in One Day ($80, 7 hours): meets at the cruise terminal exit at 10 am and adds the fish market at Caleta Portales and the Cardonal market.
- Three Casablanca vineyards ($250, 6 hours): ten wines at Casas del Bosque, Emiliana and Bodegas RE, pickup in Valparaíso or Viña del Mar.
